Experience: Jim practiced for over 8 years as a plaintiff-side personal injury and
medical negligence attorney and had over five years of medical defense
experience before joining Kent & Wittekind in December 2007. Prior
to becoming a civil litigator Jim was a criminal defense attorney where
he conducted over 15 felony and misdemeanor jury trials, including cases
involving felony murder, conspiracy to sell drugs and DUI. He also negotiated
settlements in two major federal fraud cases involving a savings and loan
officer and multi-million dollar cotton subsidies. In addition to his
trial experience Jim has assisted in the preparation of two medical negligence
appeals argued before the Arizona Supreme Court both of which became published opinions.
Other: Jim received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the
University of Delaware in 1976. After working several years as a college
administrator Jim attended New York Law School graduating in 1991. He
was admitted to practice in the State of Arizona and the U.S. District
Court in 1992. Jim continues to practice in the areas of medical negligence
and personal injury.
